Melanie McKenney / Vegetabowls
pottery & ceramics
Hometown: Grand Island, NY
Nature is the true inspiration behind Melanie McKenney’s unique Vegetabowls. Each of these earthenware bowls is slip-cast from a mold made from a real vegetable or fruit. This allows the unique and organic features of the food to translate through to each piece. Whether you want a bowl inspired by watermelon, pineapple, squash, cantaloupe, pumpkin, onion, lime, tomato or another tasty treat, McKenney has come up with a wide range of gorgeous designs that feature those perfectly imperfect and undeniably natural shapes produced by your favorite produce.
Vegetabowls are painted by hand using non-toxic, food-safe glazes that reflect the vibrant colors used to replicate actual produce. The fact that these bowls resemble real fruit and veggies make them extra fun to use for serving meals and hosting dinner parties. See the full Vegetabowls collection and get a chance to meet the artist by attending a Sugarloaf Crafts Festival.
