Wanda Summers / Wood Weaving
Hometown: Denver, PA
After attending her first basket weaving class, Wanda Summers was hooked. Her new found hobby led her to study the ancient craft - learning the ins and outs of the weaving process. Native Americans were the true pioneers of basket making using yucca plants and splint wood. Practicality led Wanda to start making her baskets out of reed and splint ash wood. She hand-dyes the reed, stains the wood, and adds her signature pattern to each basket. After almost thirty years, Wanda has perfected her basket weaving technique and enjoys traveling to small, historic towns to share her handmade products made with love.
