New Show coming to the Philadelphia Suburbs! |
|
Sugarloaf is happy to announce two new shows in Philadelphia’s suburbs in March and November 2009. As most of you know the Ft. Washington Expo Center here was demolished in 2006. Artists, patrons and Sugarloaf were totally upset about losing this great market. The new center is in Oaks, PA - just north of Valley Forge and in the same county as before. Patrons are already excited about the new center and we hope you will help us re-open this great market in March. Please apply early if you are interested in this show as it will surely fill up fast.
Tough Times Persist in Our Industry
It’s no secret that the problems in the general economy have created huge problems for our industry. Sales and attendance have been down significantly this year at shows across the U.S. Despite these problems, our long term outlook for the shows is optimistic. As the economy eventually recovers, so too will consumer interest in these shows.
Consider that art has been a needed part of everyday life since the caveman drew on his walls. We cannot exist on technology alone and it is the artists like you that will keep some sanity in everyone’s life as we go forward. Markets like the Sugarloaf Craft Festivals have been going on successfully in nearly every country of the world for thousands of years. People like the “high touch” and personal contact they get at a market. We truly have something special that can’t be found at the mall.
Holding the Line on Fees
Despite dramatically increasing prices on everything, Sugarloaf has not raised fees at the majority of our shows since 2004. This spring season we have even lowered some fees to allow more artists to be able to access these markets. We hope it helps. Everyone needs to do their part to keep this industry going. |
