March showers are bringing April crafts to Metro D.C. this spring! The Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Md. will welcome Sugarloaf Crafts Festivals this April 21-23. Sugarloaf Craft Festivals have been inspiring artists since 1975, and they do so again with one of the best spring festivals in D.C.

No matter what your interests, you’ll be sure to find something you love among the more than 250 independent artisans. Both emerging and established artists go through a careful selection process to meet Sugarloaf Craft Festivals’ high standards for quality, originality and creativity. Shop through a sea of handmade goods knowing you’re seeing the best the artistic community has to offer.

If fine arts are what you’re looking for, choose from oil paintings, hand-stitched art, wildlife paintings, calligraphy and more. Budding fashionistas can check out batik clothing, fashionable casual wear, funky shoes, hats and jewelry. Hand-carved wood furniture, pottery, spun metal sculptures, fabric handbags and more are available, with something for every budget. Each artist is on hand to greet enthusiasts and share the stories and inspiration behind their creations.

Gaithersburg’s Sugarloaf Crafts Festival is home to the “Festival of Food”, where specialty vendors offer roasted almonds, natural dip mixes, balsamic vinegar, artesian cheeses and more for your pantry. You can also enjoy a hand-prepared meal while you watch one of our incredible live art demonstrations, where master craftspeople show you the techniques behind their work. You can also groove to live music from local and regional artists.

If you’re looking for a fun time for the whole family, then the Montgomery County Fairgrounds are the place to be this April! Three-day tickets are available online or at the door, with kids 12 and under always admitted free. Make sure to check the artist and entertainment listings, and if you’re coming from out of town, be sure to click on the Directions page. Making a weekend out of this unforgettable experience is even easier thanks to “Sugarloaf rates” at local hotels. Contact us or visit our Frequently Asked Questions to learn more.
