Sugarloaf Crafts Festival Arrives in Gaithersburg
Nationally Recognized Arts and Crafts Show Makes Annual Fall Visit
Gaithersburg, MD (October 10, 2016) – The Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, MD comes alive this weekend, as the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival arrives for a three-day event beginning Friday, October 14. The nationally recognized event offers fun for the whole family while allowing collectors and enthusiasts alike to experience high-end arts and crafts.
Sugarloaf Craft Festivals are at the top of the list of fun things in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, featuring handmade fine goods to inspire any creative mind. Visitors will be able to view and purchase items from hundreds of carefully curated national and local artisans, with fine art such as wildlife paintings and calligraphy, blown glass art, modern jewelry and other fashion accessories, textiles, handmade furniture and much more. They’ll also get to meet the artists and craftspeople behind their favorite work, hear their stories and get up close with their wares.
A number of live demonstrations and workshops will be held by master craftspeople throughout the weekend, giving enthusiasts a glimpse into the artistic process. This year’s demonstrations include metal spinning with John Akkus, wheel-thrown pottery with Helen Weichman and woodturning with Don Jones. Carl Odhner’s Middle Earth Studio will also be on hand with fun costume storytelling for children and families.
Adult admission is just $8 in advance or $10 at the door, and tickets are good for the entirety of the three-day extravaganza. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.
