Over 30 years ago Robert Cory took a stained glass course out of boredom. His new hobby soon filled all his free time. Soon between his day job and serving in the National Guard, he rarely had time to finish any stained glass work. He finally quit the day job and now says it was the best thing he ever did. Since the beginning he has made over 1000 stained glass designs. He prefers a low tech process, starting by hand drawing each design at full size.

While in New Mexico for the National Guard, he happened upon a small lapidary store. He bought a few stones with no idea what he would do with them. Later he began experimenting with embedding the stones in his stained glass designs. Nowadays he includes seashells, geodes and mineral specimens in his pieces. He has plans to use some old fossils he inherited from a retired jeweler friend.

Robert enjoys sharing the stories behind each work of art with crafts show shoppers. Stop by and say hello during the next Sugarloaf Crafts Festival.
