Seymour Mondshein / Maple Leather Company
When he was just 11 years old, Seymour Mondshein started making bags in the back of his father’s fur shop in Newark, N.J. He took courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design, all while perfecting his leathering technique. He met Lisa Martin when she became the textiles artist-in-residence at Peters Valley Craft Center, also located in New Jersey, and Maple Leather Company was born. The couple prides themselves on creating functional bags that are both durable and stylish. From ergonomic backpacks that take the stress off your back, to high-end shoulder bags made of the finest leather and textiles, the quality, not to mention the selection, can’t be beat. Seymour and Lisa pay close attention to the small details, such as car key pockets, that make a world of difference when it comes to convenience. All of their bags are designed to help you stay organized in your daily life without sacrificing style.
